Maryland historian Adam Goodheart wrote a book called 1861: The Civil War Awakeneing.  It provided inspiration to a cabaret group called the Bearded Ladies.  They're performing and teaching this week at Washington College in a show that uses cross-gender and race casting to make its points. 

Then-How does your brain react to music?  That's a question musicologists AND neurobiologists are exploring at the Peabody Conservatory this week. Tom Hall talks one of the conference organizers, and one of the speakers.
